Veterans Earned Right to Operate Bar

Share

It is with sadness tinged with anger that I read of the continuing opposition to the effort by the two veterans groups to operate a bar for the enjoyment of their membership.

The accompanying photograph told the story: two men, old enough to have seen action in World War II or Korea, quietly shooting pool beneath the Stars and Stripes.

Are these the hooligans that the citizens group fears will endanger its children? Is it not enough that these men fought to save us from the Nazis?

It seems the valor of these veterans weighs light in the scales against the slightest risk to property values.

So much for honor. I wonder how many among the citizens group displayed flags and yellow ribbons during the recent war with Iraq?
