Azusa : Home Improvement Loans

Share

Low-interest loans, rebates and grants are being offered by the city redevelopment agency to help people fix their homes.

Financing options range from $1,000 rebates for exterior paint and front-yard improvements to $30,000 loans for room additions. Interest rates vary from 3% to 9%, depending on family income.

Because most homes in the area were built in the 1940s and 1950s, they are showing signs of aging, said agency Director Robb Steel. Technical assistance in planning improvements and working with contractors is also available.

“A lot of owners don’t have enough money to go out and do it themselves,” Steel said. “This is a way to encourage people to reinvest in housing.”

Funding for the project came from federal, state and city grants. Residents who are interested can call (818) 334-5125, ext. 298.
