Racial Tension in Schools

Share

In response to “Schools’ Racial Mix Boils Over” (Column One, June 14):

Not only do African-Americans have to deal with bigotry from Anglo-Americans, but we’re having to deal with it in our own back yards.

We see the large influx of immigrants from Mexico, South America and Korea into our neighborhoods whose only knowledge of African-Americans is that white America doesn’t like us. Schools are set up to meet the demands for their children.

We see their children try to emulate the African-American style of dress, music and dance but at the same time look at us with bigotry in their eyes. (I prefer to use the word envy sometimes.)
