McKibben Takes Third in U.S. Rowing Event

Chip McKibben of the Newport Aquatic Center took third place Saturday in the open men’s single event at the U.S. Rowing Assn.’s national championships in Indianapolis.
Joaquin Gomez of Mexico won in 7:14.92. John Riley (7:21.69) was second and McKibben (7:22.76) third.
Marc Puich and Ralph Meichtry, also from the NAC, finished fourth in the junior pairs event, which was contested in a strong crosswind.
