Moving On: High-profile socialite Georgette Mosbacher may be spending more time in Washington. A German company last week bought La Prairie, her New York skin-care company, so she may be seen less on the New York social circuit and more at D.C. dinners, balls and charity events. Mosbacher sold La Prairie, which had 1990 retail sales of $125 million, for an undisclosed amount.

Sound Off: A new folk ballad inspired by Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf opens with the recorded sound of a Patriot missile blast-off and ends with the sound of fireworks. But the song never mentions the general by name because nothing rhymes with Schwarzkopf , said Tampa, Fla., part-time songwriter John Centinaro. One refrain: “We salute you, general, yes we’re proud to say, You’ll always be our hero in the U.S.A.”

He Should’ve Counted Noses: Is Brazil President Fernando Collor de Mello forgetful? After a recent reception and dinner at the Willard Hotel in Washington, he took advantage of the pleasant night air to walk back to Blair House, where he was staying. Strollers included Secret Service agents, police and his own entourage, but he forgot someone important. Back at the Willard, the hotel’s security chief was locking up the VIP entrance when he heard a pounding at the door. Collor’s wife, Rosane, had been left behind. She returned to Blair House by limo.

Moving On: Chicago’s Father George Clements, who shook his church’s tradition by adopting four sons, is leaving his parish of 22 years where he gained fame as an anti-drug crusader. The Roman Catholic priest said late last week: “I think it’s time to let some young blood come in here.” His activism earned him a spot on then-drug czar William Bennett’s list of 20 people “on the true front lines” of the war on drugs.
