DRAFTED AT BIRTH

How sad that Pat Conroy in “Drafted at Birth” (May 19) is still making excuses for his parents’ abuses. He needs to finally admit that his father and mother had a problem; the military had nothing to do with it. If anything, all the benefits of military life relieved some of the pressure his family would have otherwise experienced.
