25 Killed in Colombia in Rebel Show of Force

BOGOTA, Colombia —
Leftist Colombian rebels have launched a fierce offensive in what the army said Tuesday was a show of force to back their demands in peace talks with the government.
Twenty-two guerrillas and three police officers were killed Monday in clashes that coincided with a recess in the talks, police and the army said. Guerrilla attacks left large areas of the country without electricity or gas.
