WORLD IN BRIEF : SOUTH KOREA : Ex-Roh Aide Jailed in Housing Scandal
Chang Byong Jo, 52, a former aide to President Roh Tae Woo, and two legislators were jailed for up to six years for their part in a multimillion-dollar housing scandal. Chang, dismissed in February after the scandal surfaced, was found guilty of accepting $357,000 in bribes to help ensure that Hanbo Housing Development Co. won a huge contract. The scandal caused Roh to reshuffle his Cabinet and make a televised apology.
