The Bottom Line of Fair Credit Reports

Share

I gather from all that has been written lately about credit bureaus and their horrible errors that libel laws do not apply to this situation. As a non-lawyer, I am surprised by this. Certainly the man whose career was ruined by false information from a credit bureau has a grievance that deserves a large financial settlement.

The threat of lawsuits and large settlements to people so callously harmed would be a strong incentive for credit bureaus to clean up their acts.

For Congress to amend current law is OK as far as it goes. But it does not go far enough if it does not provide for redress of the serious damages done by these cretins. They should be held responsible for their actions just like the rest of us.
