Peeble Beach Plan Approved: A plan to charge six-figure membership fees at the historic Pebble Beach Golf Links won approval from county officials despite concerns that the not-so-rich public won’t get a fair chance to play. Under the plan, submitted by the new Japanese owner of the scenic, coastal course, about 1,500 paying members of the Pebble Beach National Club will reserve tee times up to five years in advance. Non-members would be guaranteed play only during the last hour of the day.
