Distillers to Merge: The companies that make Johnnie Walker Scotch whiskey and Fleischmann’s Gin will merge under a $161-million transaction. Glenmore Distilleries Co. of Louisville, Ky., will become a wholly owned subsidiary of the United Distillers group of companies, according to a joint statement. United Distillers’ brands of Scotch include Johnnie Walker, Dewar’s and Bells and Tanqueray gin and Pimms. Glenmore markets Scoresby and Inver House Scotch, Ezra Brooks and Old Kentucky Tavern bourbons, Canadian LTD and Skol vodka.
