‘Power Eating’ Leaves Readers Hungry

Share

Congratulations on one of your funniest articles to date. I laughed all the way through the fictional account of the dining habits of Hollywood’s rich and powerful (“Power Eating,” by Nikki Finke and Peggy Biscow, June 30).

Imagine my delight over the preposterous idea that people like Michael Ovitz, Frank Yablans and Jeffrey Katzenberg actually care about being seen in the “right” places by the “right” people. I was rolling on the floor at the notion that they are more concerned about where they eat and with whom than about their work.

Finke and Biscow are to be commended for their exquisite realism. I particularly liked the joke about the agent who actually asked one of these imaginary power-eating establishments not to serve members of a rival agency. Can you imagine anyone in real life being that insecure or pretentious?

I recommend that the article be reprinted and copies handed out to every homeless person living in Los Angeles. I can just picture the streams of tears as they read this piece. Thank goodness none of it is true. I would hate to think that all that money is wasted on maintaining appearances when many don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
