HemaCare Gets FDA OK to Sell New Products

Share

HemaCare Corp., a Sherman Oaks company that sells blood-related products and services, said that earlier this month it received licenses from the Food and Drug Administration that allow HemaCare to begin selling some new types of blood products. It said licenses were also granted by the FDA that allow the company to sell some of its existing products outside California for the first time.

A total of six licenses were granted by the federal agency. HemaCare said the licenses would result in an additional $500,000 in revenues for the company this year.

Among the new products HemaCare will offer is blood plasma that it obtains from patients; the plasma would be used primarily for laboratory testing.

The company said it will also begin marketing blood platelets outside California. HemaCare now sells platelets only in California. Platelets are derived from blood samples and are used in patients to help blood clotting.
