WESTMINSTER : Council Recognizes 2 Citizens of Year
The City Council has commended a 30-year teaching veteran and a leader in drug-abuse education programs as the city’s two Citizens of the Year.
Keith (Bill) Lawson, 55, who has served as a teacher and administrator for the Westminster School District for three decades, was lauded for his work in creating the district’s Foundation for Education Excellence, which rewards students’ academic achievement.
Dorothy Hendrickson, 36, a member of the Community Services and Recreation Commission, gained recognition for her efforts in fighting drug abuse. She helped start a Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, which is now in effect in Westminster schools.
Both Lawson and Hendrickson, selected by the Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year for 1990-91, were honored by the council at Tuesday’s meeting.
