From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A Tampa, Fla., couple, videotaped having sex and later charged with felony lewd and lascivious conduct based on the tape, face new misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges that have nothing to do with the tape. Alfred Stephens, 36, and Janet Paddock, 32, were arrested July 16 after police saw the video, shot by a neighbor through the blinds of Stephens’ ground-floor condo. Hillsborough County prosecutor Hank Lavandera said the video case was dropped because “we just don’t want to mess with it.” But, according to a document filed by prosecutors, the couple were accused of swimming in the condominium’s pool July 10 with Paddock partly nude, having sex in the condo hot tub July 16, the day they were arrested, and entering a ladies’ restroom together at a bar the next night and locking the door “with the intent of engaging in sex.” “We dispute all of it,” said the couple’s attorney, Nicholas Matassini.
