Unrealistic Opinion

Share

While Brooke Shields’ (star of such semi-soft core kiddie porn movies as “Pretty Baby” and “Blue Lagoon”) belief in chastity until marriage is to be admired, I feel that William McCaughey’s (“Brooke’s Example,” Aug. 10) suggestion to highlight Brooke’s statement “I could never, ever have an abortion even if I was raped by a . . . drug addict. I’d have the baby, and I’d keep it,” is ludicrous.

Having a family member who went through the humiliating, mind- and gut-wrenching experience of being raped, I can only say that producing a child from the result of this act of violence was the last thing on her mind.

While Brooke may feel differently, I feel most women in that situation would think her opinion a tad unrealistic.
