Apple, Adobe Systems in Software Accord: Apple Computer and Adobe Systems said they had reached an agreement to incorporate Adobe’s type font technology into the new Apple Macintosh system software. The deal solidifies a reapproachment between the two companies, which had worked closely in developing desktop publishing technology in the 1980s but split two years ago when Apple announced plans to pursue its own printing technology in conjunction with Microsoft. Apple began to back away from that effort a year ago, however, and by agreeing to incorporate the Adobe type fonts into its System 7 software, Apple has further solidified the Adobe technology as an industry standard.
