Different Words: Evelyn Y. Davis, the stockholder-activist known for exchanging testy words with company bosses at annual meetings, exchanged vows in New York Monday with Walter Froh Jr. Davis, editor of a corporate newsletter, owns stock in 120 companies and attends about 60 annual meetings a year. She has forced some companies to become more accountable to stockholders.

* Coup Fallout: It should have been a joyful day for Muscovite Elena Starova when she was tapped to be Lady Europe 1991, but the coup in her homeland chilled everything. The 23-year-old model-dancer won the beauty contest in Campione D’Italia, Italy, on Monday, the day the world found out that Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev had been ousted. “Gorbachev is a fair man but was unable to control ethnic problems and this caused major confusion in the country,” said Starova.

* Tough Times: The toughest issue facing teen-agers is “peer pressure. A lot of teens have a hard time being themselves and let others lead them around,” said the new Miss Teen USA, Janel Bishop. The former Miss Teen New Hampshire won the pageant Monday night in Biloxi, Miss., garnering more than $150,000 in cash and prizes. Miss Teen Georgia Meredith Young was first runner-up and Miss Teen Missouri Audra Sherman was second runner-up.

* Not So Honorable: The parents of a nearly straight-A student in White Plains, N.Y., are suing his high school because he was rejected by the National Honor Society. Richard and Lisa Dangler claim Yorktown High School officials are discriminating against their son because of the family’s previous disputes with the district, including a complaint over the boy’s having to wait for the bus in the cold. But school officials say the boy “lacked the requisite character” to get into the society.
