Soviet Sounds: Power 106 (KPWR-FM) plans to rush a new pop version of the Russian folk song “Ochi Chornaya” (“Dark Eyes”), recorded by Russian singer Natasha Alexandrovna, onto the airwaves in a show of support for Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and “democracy in general,” the station’s director of marketing, Paul Sansone said Wednesday. “We’ll either put it on ‘Jay Thomas and the Morning Zoo’ or just play it,” Sansone said. “My first interest in it is musically--it is a dance record. . . . It just happens that what’s going on (in the Soviet Union) makes it timely.”
