From Staff and Wire Reports

An investigation has found that 16 forged prescriptions for anabolic steroids were filled during a 14-month period at two drugstores near the University of Texas.

The Texas Board of Pharmacy began its investigation after published reports last March of a pharmacist who said he had unknowingly filled several forged steroid prescriptions bearing the name of an orthopedist in Duncanville, Tex.

The name appeared on a forged prescription in February that was presented by University of Texas reserve football player Brent Beauchamp at a pharmacy in southwest Austin.

Last month, a Travis County grand jury indicted Beauchamp on a charge of obtaining drugs by fraud, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
