How the Media Deal With Sex

Share

As a longtime reader of The Times and a frustrated critic of media bias, I couldn’t help but chuckle at some of the accusations made against the media in your series. Not only was the listing of gross abuses of journalistic license accurate, but similar examples of selective reporting are far too familiar on a variety of other social issues as well--law enforcement, abortion, gun control and the death penalty.

Even more frightening than an occasional admission of guilt is the knowledge that after the cleansing effect of articles such as yours has worn off, it will be business as usual in newsrooms.

Americans don’t need to read or hear sporadic self-serving apologies from our media whenever the mood presents itself. Instead, we need a mainstream media willing to put “political correctness” aside that is committed to fair, professional reporting on all issues.
