A grocery store robber who pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed the weapon at several store employees took at least $415 from three female cashiers, police said Tuesday.

The robber, who wore a blue baseball cap and sunglasses, walked into a Vons market at Harbor Boulevard and Edinger Avenue at 6:20 p.m. Monday when the store was full of customers, Police Sgt. Dann Bean said.

“He robbed this store when it was very busy, during the store’s rush hour,” Bean said.

During the robbery, the gunman pointed the handgun at each clerk as he went from cash register to cash register, Bean said. Store employees were unsure of the exact amount taken but said it was between $415 and $1,500.
