World IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : Deal for Exam of Remains Rejected

Israel’s Defense Ministry rejected a call by a Lebanese leader for the release of 28 women prisoners in return for a Red Cross examination of the remains of two missing Israeli servicemen. Nabih Berri, a Lebanese Cabinet minister, said his Amal militia has the bodies of two Israeli soldiers and that Israel must free 28 Lebanese women held at the Khiam prison in southern Lebanon before the Red Cross could examine them. Israel has demanded verified information on seven missing Israeli servicemen.
