Danny H. Rolling, the prime suspect in the slayings of five Gainesville, Fla., college students, was convicted of the armed robbery of a Tampa grocery and assault on police officers. Prosecutors said they plan to seek a life sentence. The robbery occurred a few days after the last of the Gainesville bodies were discovered. Rolling, charged with other burglaries and robberies in Florida, is wanted for the attempted murder of his father and may be a suspect in a triple killing in Louisiana. No one has been charged in the Gainesville slayings, and there is a second suspect in the case.
