Claremont : Plan to Annex Land OKd
The Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission has approved Claremont’s application to annex more than 1,000 acres above its northern boundary, largely as open space.
The city already has an option to buy most of the land, said Sharon Wood, director of community development. She said the city would cover the $13- to $18-million purchase price by setting aside 125 acres of the land to sell for residential development.
The City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the annexation Sept. 24 and is expected to vote immediately afterward. Voter approval is not required because fewer than 12 people live in the area, and they support annexation, Wood said.
