Nation IN BRIEF : TEXAS : Judge Grants Bond in Cheerleader Case
A woman sentenced to 15 years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill the mother of her daughter’s cheerleading rival was released on bond pending her appeal. State District Judge George Godwin granted the $75,000 bond to Wanda Holloway, 37, of Channelview, Tex. Convicted felons sentenced to 15 years or less in prison are allowed such bonds. “She’s not a dangerous woman,” defense attorney Stanley Schneider said. “If anything, she’s a broken woman. The trial’s taken a toll on her.” Holloway also was fined $10,000 following her conviction for solicitation of capital murder.
