$1.3-Million Grant Given for Dropout Prevention
The Los Angeles Educational Partnership has received a $1.3-million grant to expand its dropout prevention program.
The grant, from the DeWitt Wallace-Reader’s Digest Fund, will help expand the Focus on Youth program in the Los Angeles Unified School District and enable the partnership to begin the program in the Long Beach Unified School District.
Focus on Youth trains school staff members to identify youngsters who are likely to drop out and helps provide students and their families with the services needed to keep them in school. The educational partnership is a business-funded organization that works for public school reforms.
