Douglas T. Miles, Former Reporter, Editor, Dies at 56

Douglas T. Miles, who worked as a reporter and editor for newspapers in Southern California and Colorado, died Saturday in London while on a business trip. He was 56.

Miles began his journalism career covering sports for the Long Beach Press-Telegram while still in school, then worked as a reporter and editor for the now-defunct Garden Grove Daily News from 1956-60.

He was sports editor of the Anaheim Bulletin from 1963-70, then joined the Orange County Register in Santa Ana as assistant news director.

In 1976, Miles moved to the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph as editor. From 1979 to 1988, he served as editor and general manager of the Canon City (Colo.) Daily Record.

Miles joined an Orlando, Fla., public relations firm three years ago and lived in Longwood, Fla.
