BEYOND QUOTAS

I am a member of the so-called “twentysomething” generation, the first generation in some time that will not meet the living standards of its elders. This means that, along with many African-Americans, whites of my generation will be poor. But the right and the left are at a stalemate. One side wants to help whites only, and the other side African-Americans only. This is causing an atmosphere of rising racism and resentment. The synthesis school mentioned in your article is the only movement that wants to help everyone. The only way that we will reverse the damage caused by the greed of the 1980s is if everyone who was most hurt by it is helped.
