Paramount : Contracts OKd to Refurbish 2 More Elementary Schools

The Paramount Unified School District board has voted unanimously to approve more than $1 million in bids to renovate Gaines and Collins elementary schools as part of ongoing district modernization efforts.

Maddox-Stabler Construction of Los Angeles will perform $317,723 of work at Gaines. Air Conditioning Systems Inc. of La Habra won the contract for $753,751 of rehabilitation construction at Collins. The renovations, supported by state rehabilitation funds, include installing new carpets, floors, lights, cabinets and ceilings in school buildings that are more than 30 years old.

The district already has refurbished Lincoln Elementary and Paramount High and is currently modernizing Clearwater Intermediate and Los Cerritos High. Renovations of Keppel and Mokler elementary schools are in the planning stages. Modernization efforts will be complete by July, 1992, officials said.
