Brazilians Strike Over Inflation: Oil and bank workers went on strike in Sao Paulo, Brazil, demanding wage increases to match the 350% inflation that has battered the economy. The strikes come amid growing criticism of President Fernando Collor de Mello, who has been unable to brake the run-up. He imposed price controls last February, but as soon as he lifted them, inflation resurfaced.
