SAVED: Once a registered nurse in Vietnam, Eileen Moore was a Superior Court judge when she came to the rescue of Sheriff Brad Gates on Thursday. . . . After seven years as a nurse, Moore switched to law and took the bench two years ago. This week she overturned the sheriff’s contempt-of-court conviction over the release of prisoners to ease jail overcrowding (B10). Not all her judicial colleagues support the ruling, but Moore says the sheriff “should be lauded instead of scorned for attempting to protect the rights of inmates even beyond the federal order.”
