DURBAN, South Africa — The Durban Supreme Court sentenced two white extremists to death Friday for murdering seven blacks in a hail of automatic weapons fire on a crowded bus.
Ten khaki-clad colleagues in the public gallery burst into Afrikaner songs and hoisted an Afrikaner flag when the sentence was announced.
The convicted pair joined in the singing.
David Petrus Botha and Adriaan Smuts, members of the Afrikaner Resistance Movement and the Order of the Boer Nation, attacked the bus near Durban’s KwaMashu black township last Oct. 9.
