Getting Bang for Education Bucks--Look Closely, Either Private or Public

Share

“Private Schooling Gains Popularity” (Sept. 2), on the rising popularity of private schools in the county, like most of the Times’ coverage of private schools, leaves the impression that our private schools have religious affiliations and that they cost $5,000 to $6,000 per year.

My children attend the Kline School in Costa Mesa, which features very small classes--the whole school, kindergarten through eighth grade, numbers fewer than 30 students--whose tuition is just a bit over $4,000 and which has no religious affiliation. It’s simply dedicated to the best possible teaching (and is headed by the best elementary teacher I’ve ever encountered).

You could do readers who are looking for good schools a real service by looking more closely at what’s actually out there.
