California IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : State Board, Honig Feud Simmers Again
The summer lull in the battle between the State Board of Education and State Supt. of Public Instruction Bill Honig over who should be making state education policy may have resumed. Honig circulated a news release Friday in which the board accused the schools’ chief of “trying to limit illegally the state board’s policy-making role” and said it will take the issue to the state Supreme Court. Board Secretary Tom Bogetich said no plans have been announced to sue Honig in the Supreme Court and that he had “no idea” where the news release came from, even though it carries a State Board of Education letterhead.
