Let’s hear it for Les Aspin!
By all means, take aid for Eastern Europe and Russia out of the bloated defense budget, and, while we’re at it, let’s give a moment’s thought to re-establishing a WPA and CCC. Sure, you’ve heard that many of those being paid were leaning on their shovels a good part of the time. So what? We still have the roads, libraries, schools and bridges they managed to construct, and most of those structures are now urgently in need of repairs, while 6 million or 7 million people are unemployed.
