Car Insurance Dilemma

Share

Your article never bothered to raise one simple question: If insurance companies are making the massive profits Rosenfield, Nader and the trial lawyers say they are, why are so many insurance companies going to such great lengths to slow down business?

Why are Allstate agents forced to sue Allstate to write business? Why won’t these other companies send out applications, quote over the phone, etc.? Are insurance companies the only companies in California who don’t like to make “massive profits”? Or does their defense, pretty consistent since Proposition 103 passed, have merit; that the “hit me, I need the money” mentality is so pervasive that profits are difficult to come by even with consistent rate increases?
