Readers See No Need for KCET Apology

Tim Rutten’s anti-PBS argument loses all weight and believability when he attacks the late Joseph Campbell as “that anti-Semitic old fraud.” The enlightened and enlightening Joseph Campbell had studied Eastern, pre-Judeo-Christian wisdom and suggested in his teaching that the narrow and limiting concepts of those Old Testament chaps--such as divine male patriarchy and human dominion over nature--have left a legacy of endless wars, selfish greed and environmental disaster. Perhaps Mr. Rutten could benefit from asking questions instead of slinging epithets, from broadening his perspectives too, instead of merely accepting all his individual programming and conditioning from childhood on as the only truth there is.
