Natives Drop Exxon Suits: A group of Alaska Natives agreed to drop lawsuits against the state and federal government over damages suffered in the Exxon Valdez oil spill. The settlement clears the way for the state to create a united front of government and private interests suing Exxon Corp. over the nation’s largest oil spill. Last week, fishermen, landowners, cannery workers and other private interests suing Exxon also agreed to settle lawsuits against the state and federal government.
