Additional murder charges and conspiracy charges have been filed against suspects in the so-called “mall murders,” the three summer killings in the San Gabriel Valley.
John Lewis, 21, and Eileen Huber, 20, were charged in the July 5 murder and robbery in Monrovia of Jose Avina, 22, of Norwalk. Lewis also was charged in the Aug. 4 robbery and murder of Augustine Ramirez, 53, of West Covina.
Conspiracy charges were filed against Lewis, Huber and co-defendants Robin Machua and Vincent Hubbard, both 26, in the attempted murder and robbery of Eugene Valdez, 55, a Victorville resident who escaped after being kidnaped Aug. 9 in Chino.
Deputy Dist. Atty. John Urgo filed the additional charges Wednesday in Citrus Municipal Court in West Covina. The setting of a preliminary hearing was postponed, for a second time, until Oct. 23.
