Olmos’ Real Message

In reference to reader Leo Guerra’s opinion that “American Me” will cause “dishonor, betrayal and death to a whole generation of Chicanos”:

Guerra only has to turn on a TV news broadcast to see that this is already being done by gangs.

In his film, Olmos is trying to show the violent side of gang life in an effort to save our youth from destroying themselves.

I would suggest that Guerra picket those who have turned our educational system into a shambles, and not those who are using their time and talents in a desperate effort to save our society from destruction.
