Disruption: Supporters of assassinated Jewish extremist Meir Kahane disrupted a New York news conference given by lawyers for his alleged killer Tuesday just as the attorneys said they had evidence their client, El Sayyid Nosair, was innocent. One of about five Kahane supporters rushed the podium where defense attorney William Kunstler stood, while the others turned over chairs. Kahane was killed last November as he gave a speech at a New York hotel.

* Search: Arkansas is having trouble finding justices to preside over a tax case. A judge had ruled state taxes on used cars bought out of state were unconstitutional and ordered them repaid with interest. The courts then had to find someone who hadn’t bought such a car to preside over the appeal. Michael Easley was one of two lawyers appointed to act as judges after two Supreme Court justices stepped aside. Easley later disqualified himself, as did the other lawyer. So did a retired judge. And another justice. So far, delays have added $4.89 million in interest to the kitty.

* Reminiscence: Was Donald Trump simply reliving good times when he took his ex-fiancee Marla Maples pumpkin picking one afternoon and then breakfasted with ex-wife Ivana Trump the next morning? Or did the financially troubled developer take Marla to the pumpkin patch on Long Island to patch things up? Just hours earlier, they were playing golf nearby as a plane flew overhead pulling a banner proclaiming: “Marla, I Love You.” There was no comment from Trump’s publicists.

Pietro Vernengo slipped out of a ward where he was under treatment for prostate problems. Vernengo was serving a sentence of life imprisonment for drug trafficking.
