Renegade Operators Foul Up Radio Rescues

Share

Where were the articles of praise when the amateur radio community kept friends and families in touch when the Loma Prieta, Mexico City, and Armenian temblors hit?

Where were the articles that tell when other means of communications were not possible, hams went in and got the job done in Jamaica after Hurricane Gilbert all but destroyed that country?

When the Los Angeles Marathon and the Hollywood Christmas parade need help with communications, the hams are there at every checkpoint. During Desert Shield/Storm, it was the hams who helped with phone patches that helped the troops keep in touch with loved ones back home.

These acts of public service never seem to yield a brief mention, let alone more than 40 column inches and color photos.
