Demand for Gasoline to Grow: World gasoline demand should grow by 12% by the end of the century, but the ability to produce the fuel will grow even faster, according to a study to be released by the consulting firm Energy Security Analysis in Washington. Assuming no new conservation policies such as higher taxes, worldwide demand for gasoline will grow from about 15.1 million barrels a day in 1991 to 16.87 million barrels a day in 1999, the study forecast. But refining capacity, now 15.7 million barrels a day, will increase by about 10% by 1995, the study added.
