Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Miami Beach Mayor Indicted Over Funds

Miami Beach Mayor Alex Daoud was indicted on federal charges of racketeering, extortion and money laundering. Daoud faces 41 counts charging him with running the city government of Miami Beach, a city of 93,000, “through a pattern of racketeering activity.” Prosecutors said he was expected to be arraigned today and be released on a $500,000 surety bond. Daoud has said he would not seek reelection.
