Ozone Depletion
In his article “Ozone Depletion Is Year-Round, Scientists Find” (Oct. 23), Rudy Abramson states, “Under the 1987 agreement known as the Montreal Protocols, 53 industrial nations pledged to eliminate the use of CFCs and similar chemicals known as Halon by the year 2000.” He omits the fact that the U.S. did not sign the pledge. How shameful. It is the insatiable greed of American corporations which dictates this policy, carried out by their obedient servant in the White House--the “Environmental President.” This policy poses a serious threat to the survival of future generations. It is our responsibility to demand that it be reversed.
