Readers Commend One Man’s Honesty

I was really overwhelmed by Dianne Klein’s reporting of Dave Hoen’s courageous surmounting of the hell of bigotry. She drew the picture of his struggles with a loving brush, but with the depth of honest coverage.

My heart and hand go out to both of them. I shall make copies and give them to my gay and lesbian friends and acquaintances who still keep one-and-a-half feet in the closet--and all of whom feel “it’s nobody’s business what my sex life is.”

But would they say that if they were heterosexual? In defense they say yes, but I know better. I’ve never met a heterosexual who was afraid to admit it.
