Japan’s Contempt for America

Share

America for the last 45 years has been on one long honeymoon. Since America was really the only country with any kind of infrastructure left at that time we were the sole economic powerhouse. It was real easy to be No. 1 and subsequently we became arrogant and lazy. Japan’s new attitude reported in the article suggests that they too are capable of becoming arrogant.

After years of cramped housing, 12-hour workdays and two-hour commutes, Japanese workers will start to request and expect more out of life, which could erode their competitive edge. America might have been slow in responding to Japan’s rise to power but as evidenced in the quality turnaround of U.S. cars, America can fix any problem once a crisis is realized, and that crisis is coming to a head.

Finally, one lesson that Japan has failed to learn from Pearl Harbor is that it is dangerous to awaken a sleeping giant!
