Scientist Fatally Injured by Stone Hurled From Car

A National Institutes of Health researcher died in a hospital Monday of brain injuries suffered when he was hit on the head by a stone thrown from a passing car.

Gerald Aurbach, 64, of Potomac, Md., chief of the metabolic disease branch of the NIH, was hit Saturday in downtown Charlottesville.
