MAN BITES TOWN

It’s bad enough that the movies have digressed to using the commentary and language of the gutter. But at least with television we can pick and choose what we want to be exposed to and what we want to support. And by so doing, we can limit the effects of Hollywood morality on ourselves and our children.

But now here is Mr. Shearer making a bandwagon statement that the FCC should let go of the heavy “yoke” it places on network television to uphold a basic American, Christian standard of decency in language, a yoke the movie industry has successfully thrown off with shamefully few complaints.

Wake up, Harry Shearer. The vast majority of our children form opinions about what’s right in front of the TV.
